Begin 2022 with a focused week of prayer and fasting. Collectively as a church, we’ve set aside January 16 through January 22 as our Waters Edge Prayer and Fasting Week! Together, we will seek God through prayer and worship and prioritize our relationship with Him through Fasting.
When we fast, we willingly deprive ourselves of something common and ordinary, in order to focus our hearts and minds towards God. By fasting, we deny ourselves things we love for someone we love even more. Remember, the goal of fasting is not just to go without food or other comforts that you enjoy. The goal is to draw closer to God.
Please contact a doctor before you begin fasting if you have any health concerns and modify your plan as needed.

Daniel Fast Guidelines
A common fast is to participate in what is often called a Daniel Fast. The foods ‘allowed’ in a Daniel Fast vary but the foundation of the Daniel Fast is fruits and vegetables. It basically means eating no meat, no sweets, and no bread. Instead, you drink water and juice and only eat fruits and vegetables. Here are a list of foods that are “allowed” as part of the fast:
All fruits – fresh, frozen, dried, juiced or canned (avoid added sugar)
Vegetables – fresh, frozen, dried, juiced or canned (avoid salt content)
Legumes – beans, lentils, peanuts, peas, natural peanut butter with no additives
Seeds – all nuts, sunflower, sesame, ground flax
Whole grains – whole wheat, brown rice, quinoa, oats, millet, plain oatmeal, popcorn, whole wheat pasta or tortillas
Liquids – water, herbal tea, unsweetened soy milk, 100% fruit juice (no added sugar)
Other – tofu, soy products, herbs, spices (with no preservatives), small amounts of honey, olive oil, sea salt, or Ezekiel bread
Remember to drink lots of water during your fast. If for health or other reasons you cannot safely fast from food, please see the info above on a soul fast.
