As we begin the New Year, we’re choosing to seek God first. As a church, we’ve set aside January 5–25 for 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting, coming together to trust God for lasting impact in our lives, our church, and our world.

Prayer is our opportunity to connect more with God through an ongoing conversation that includes both listening and talking.

Fasting is not just about going without, but about drawing closer to God by setting aside something we enjoy for Someone we love more. When combined, prayer and fasting are powerful ways to develop spiritually.

If you have any health concerns, please consult a doctor before fasting and adjust your plan as needed.

The First 15 Challenge

During these 21 days, we challenge you to spend the first 15 minutes of your day with God. The goal is to spend five minutes in the Word, five minutes in prayer, and five minutes in worship. To assist you with this challenge we have created a daily resource to help guide you in your prayer and fasting.

  • This fast calls for drinking only liquids, typically water, with light juices as an option.

  • This type of fast involves removing certain elements from your diet. One example of a selective fast is the Daniel Fast, during which you remove meat, sweets, and bread from your diet and consume water and juice for fluids and fruits and vegetables for food.

  • This fast is sometimes called the Jewish fast and involves abstaining from eating any type of food in the morning and afternoon. This can either correlate to specific times of the day, such as 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM, or from sunup to sundown.

  • This fast is common for those who do not have much experience fasting food, who have health issues that prevent them from fasting food, or who wish to refocus certain areas of their life that are out of balance. For instance, someone might select or abstain from using social media or watching television for the duration of the fast, and then choose to carefully bring that element back into their life in an orderly fashion at the conclusion of the fast.
